Nora McElholm née Mahon 30.09.13 - 30.06.10
Nora was the 5th child of Joseph Senior and oldest daughter of Minnie. She was born in the Hotel and became a teacher in a number of local National schools before settling in the Old Boys School in Irvinestown. She trained as a teacher in Belfast taught the younger children all her life and despite being hospitalised with TB in her early 20's enjoyed a long and active retirement. Nora was the keeper of family memories, keeping in touch with extended family members and in latter years writing down what she remembered of them. Nora taught most of the children of Irvinestown, took an active part in the Drama society, ran the school and church choirs, took a keen interest in the Fermanagh GAA, the Féis and greatly enjoyed attending the races.
She married John McElholm from Kinine, Co. Tyrone who became the local Schoolmaster and went to Hotel every day for her lunch up until her final years. As a proud Irvinestown and Fermanagh woman she loved hearing about her former pupils and kept up with all the local news especially Fermanagh GAA.
She walked around Necarne Castle every day and a seat was dedicated to her at the spot where she sat on a large stone to take in the the view.
